Landon watched her sleep soundly as he fastened his breeches from the side of the bed, mixed feelings swirling inside him. On one hand, there were feelings of warmth and admiration in his chest, admiration for Cornelia’s courage and determination. Reckless or not, she was unlike any woman he had ever met. On the other, he could feel a weight on his chest, the weight of guilt, remorse from what he had just done.

Yes, he had managed not to hurt her. From the look on her face, it seemed that she had in fact enjoyed what he did to her. Still, he could not forgive himself for not having kept his lust reined in.

A voice inside him told him it wasn’t his fault, that the physical lust came with the bloodlust, and that it was more her fault for not staying away from him. Another voice, however, admonished him, reinforcing his guilt, telling him that he had brought down hell upon himself by bringing her to his mansion.

Hell.

Now that he had formed a sexual bond with Cornelia, his mind and soul would be forever linked to hers, her thoughts and feelings flowing through to him, and the bond could only be broken if he drank her blood.

Or killed her.

Turning towards the window, he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration as he looked up at the moon, which seemed to be smirking down on him.

What on earth had he just done?
